Is there a place to import Absinthe in Saskatoon?!

Question:

Is there a place to import Absinthe in Saskatoon?

I am in the mood to try new alcoholic beverages, and despite it being disproven to cause hallucinogenic effects, I still would like to try it. Unfortunately, it is illegal in the US, and therefore hard to get in Canada, let alone Saskatoon. Is there a store that sells it, or would import it for a decent price?

I would simply rather not import it myself.

Answers:
First I am glad you didn't followed that "hallucinogenic effects" crap, it's an excellent sign. Absinthe it's a remarkable drink because of it's tasting complexity, even superior to most red wines. It's grape spirit distilled (and not just "soaked", macerated) together with up to 9 different herbs, not just wormwood, green anis, fennel, hyssop, melissa, star anis, etc.
The best way to get absinthe in Canada is to import it from Europe online, because that I know off there are no real absinthe brands selling in Canada, only La Fée and the infamous fake czech "absinths".
This said, you better choose a more cheap but good absinthe like Un émile or Verte/Blanche de Fougerolles before trying the really good stuff, swiss La Clandestine, Kubler or french Jades.
Final note, NEVER burn the sugar cube into the absinthe, that's a stupid commercial gimmick invented by czech producers in the 1990's, absinthe was never drank that way, it just ruins all the subtle flavours. Nowadays it doesn't makes much sense to use the sugar cube, in the XIX century they used it because sugar was not as common as today and people saw it as a "luxurious" extra to the drink, this because most absinthes then and now are allready sweet due to the green anis. The best way to enjoy your absinthe is to pour a little ammount of absinthe in a large glass, no more than two fingers. Then slowly, but very slowly, pour ice cold water in a proportion of no less than 2 parts of water to one of absinthe. You notice the absinthe starts to "cloud" to become opaque a sign of it's authenticity. Then drink it slowly, it is not a drink to gulp down like a shot, that way you miss the experience of trying to distinguish all the subtle flavours.
Cheers

Dude, just go pop an X.
