I am suprised you enjoy both Glenfiddich (pronounced glenfiddick "the valley of the stag (deer)") and Laiphroag. They are such polar opposites. By the way Oban is not an Islay (island) scotch as the other guy suggested. It is from the western highlands. Check out the Oban Distillers Edition. It is fantastic, and very rare. If you like the smokier islays like laiphroag, check out Talisker's distillers edition and the distillers edition from Lagavulin. If you do really enjoy Glenfiddich, try their 21 yo aged in old rum casks. I think it is great, even better than their 30 yo. Remember that neat isn't just scotch, neat requires one drop of water to be added to the scotch to de-polarize it and release it's bouquet. Cheers!

I was waiting on a question like this. I have a couple sips every night. In fact, I'm sipping a nice Aberfeldy 21 right now.

I normally partake of the smokier island scotchs Lagavulin, Talisker, Ardbeg, even Oban and Dalwhinnie when i'm in the mood for one of the sweeter - more floral highland malts. .

I do drink them neat now and again - but to truly capture the bouquet and treat your palate - try 2 or 3 ice cubes. With most scotchs it will "bloom" and unlock a whole new level of flavours and aromas. Where water normally dilutes and weakens a drink, the small amount of cold water imparted by the ice accentuates the taste of a great single malt. Some connoisseurs will add a eye droplet of spring water - but i prefer a few blocks of ice.

There are a few blended scotchs made for those who like some diversity from their single malts. Johnny Walker Green and Blue are extraordinary. Dewars also has a signature line that doesn't even resemble the normal rot that Dewars puts out. It costs about 250 a bottle though

Talasker(Isle of Skye) good stuff 18 year old smooth..
Glenfiddich liquer good! tasted it at Distillery good smooth stuff.don't gulp can burn a little..

I like rum Malibu Banana flavored rum. I also like Godiva's Chocolate Cream Liquor.

Ah - whiskey, I loved it too much. Been clean and sober five years now but have a very well stocked liquor cabinet full of fine brandies (including Calvados of my own making) and whiskeys. Picked up most of them duty free when working in England. I liked most of my Scotch over ice but drank American bourbon and whiskey straight up. Although sober, I get great pleasure in serving friends some of the best. RScott
