Are there any red wines that are not sour?!

Ballantine Asti Russo is a fruity, sparking (bubbly) wine and a bargain at under $10 a bottle. Kosher wines like Maneshewitz are almost TOO sweet. (Some folks would omit the word 'almost'.) Another option is to make wine punch by mixing a bottle of wine with a quart of apple juice, grape juice, or other juice. And there is always "trailer park champagne", a mix of wine and a soda pop like seven-up or cherry.

What you're tasting probably isn't sour, but is tannin and oak. The woody oak taste comes from the barrels the wine is aged in. I have no idea where that leathery tannin taste comes from. Both are aquired tastes that I've never acquired. I prefer for my wines to taste like fruit, not like lumber or shoes.

If you like the taste of the sweet muscadine grape, San Sabastin in St. Agustine Florida makes a good, sweet red wine called Vintage Red. They also make it in a white.

Tart? I think the biggest issue people have with red wines is bitterness.

That said, try a Pinot Noir, it's the lightest red wine you're going to find. I can reccomend the greg norman 2005 pinot noir, about $16 and 14.2%. Haven't tried any others...

The tart you taste is Tannin. High Tannin wines seem very "tart". So, if you look at any reviews, look for the deeper flavors of "dark cherries or oakiness.

I find that lower Chianti's tend to be less tannins. Also Australian Shiraz's (Yellow Tail is nice) may be to your liking.
