How long can I store a Sivi Pinot?!

Question: Last year my husband and I were in Slovenia and we bottled a bottle of Sivi Pinot. We have not opened the bottle yet and I am curious if it would still be good after a year?

I have heard of Sivi Wines but have not had a chance to try it yet. I'm anxious to having not tried any Slovenian wines (can't be to bad - it's about a mile away from Friuli Italy).

The length of time on a pinot grigio is dependent on some other details. Most pinot (especially Northern Italians and area) require 6 months of maturation in the bottle. I'm assuming that since you bottled this at the vineyard that it hasn't had this yet.

Red wines normally are aging wines - white are not - (at least not pinot grigio) most of them can safely be held for up to 4 years (at the most). There are some white wines of central France that are aged though.

It is imperative that it is stored correctly. Make sure that it is stored horizontally so that the cork can stay wet. Also make sure that that it is in a dark area and that the temperature is consistent. Changes in temperature (cooling and re-cooling more than twice) can damage the structure of the wine.

overall -- it should be fine. enjoy!
