Among those I've poured down my gullet so far, the best would be Tettley's and Kilkenny's for taste; but if you consider the cost as well then it will be the underdogs like Traditional from China, Oetinger from Germany and good old local Tiger(Malaysia/Singapore). Guiness is good especially mixed in toddy. Another good one is Haywards 5000 (Indian)
Yuengling and Killians.
I prefer scotch ales (McEwin's is a common brand, but there are better). They are malty and have a unique taste from the type of yeast used to make them. They also tend toward higher alcohol so one or two will do.
They are not for the "lite" beer crowd.

Any of the Samuel Adams products. The Sam Light is by far the best light beer on the market.
Steel Reserve gives you a pretty decent buzz.
I can honestly say that I am not picky when it comes to beer. As long as it is cold and bubbly, I am happy. I drink for effect, not taste. If it really came down to the actual taste of the beer that I prefer, there is a beer named Grimbergen Triple that is made by Belgian monks. It is bottled with extra yeast added to the bottles so it becomes stronger and more potent the longer it rests. You just have to balance the time it rests with the time it will eventually go flat. Good times!!!
