Why can't you buy alcohol in Indiana on Sundays?!

Question: Blue Law. We have that here in South Carolina. Harkens back to the old days when people actually thought observing the Sabbath meant something besides football and beer.

It's called the Blue Laws in Pennsylvania.

tradition.

because some people are religious

On any reservation.

There are no standard, national laws where alcohol sales are concerned. The laws are voted on county by county.

I did not know that. Interesting. I am looking forward to the other answers to this question.

A blue law, in the United States and Canada, is a type of law designed to enforce moral standards, particularly the observance of Sunday as a day of worship or rest. Most have been repealed or are simply unenforced, although prohibitions on the sale of alcoholic beverages, and occasionally almost all commerce, on Sundays are still enforced in many areas. Blue laws often prohibit an activity only during certain hours and there are usually exceptions to the prohibition of commerce, like grocery and drug stores. In some places blue laws may be enforced due to religious principles, but others are retained as a matter of tradition or out of convenience

Because Illinois has to make some money on what they lose in gas and cigarette sales.

No really it's a Blue law, there aren't that many states left that excercise it. I know Indiana, Pennsylvania, Utah, and Minnesota do, and I want to say there are ten more or so.

Because that is what the Indiana law says.

So people that live in Indiana...but are close to the michigan border, have a reason to go to michigan on sundays.
