Bartending Question: Does seltzer chill glasses faster than water?!

Question: And, if so, why?

For years, I've been chilling my martini glasses with ice and seltzer as I was told by my bartending mentor that it chills the glasses faster.

Is this an urban legend? If not, how come?

i was always taught to use seltzer water as well (or soda water off the gun) - and told that it chills the glasses faster because of the impurities in tap water. I don't know so much about that - what i do know is that it makes the glasses streak and spot less.

no but salt waqter will chill faster......however i do't reccommend using it! If yoiu have setzer on the gun why not try it, BUT if you have to grab a bottle of setzer the time that you are taking to grab that bottle you might as well just use water.
