How long should a glass of wine take me to drink if i am a respectable drinker?!

Question:

How long should a glass of wine take me to drink if i am a respectable drinker?

Answers:
10 or 15 minutes

a few minutes

if its not with a meal then about 10 minutes i would say

Half hour

wine is ment to be sipped slowly and enjoyed.

erm... I'd say 10 minutes...

But I don't usually drink to please the opinions of other people, as to what a respectable drinker is. If you drink fast you will get drunk quicker, but if you don't drink much and drink fast then it doesn't matter, you won't get drunk.

If you drink a tonne of wine, but at a slow "respectable pace" you will still be drunk, I fail to see the respectability in that.

Drink how you prefer to drink :), if wine tastes better if you drink it fast, drink it fast :)

what size glass?

never mind the quality take the quantity,, get it down your neck sharpish

About 10 seconds ........... you go girl and enjoy !!!!!!

To earn respect you should take as long as you like

It usually takes me about half an hour. I prefer to have small sips, plus if I drink more than 2 glasses I get sleepy, so I try and make one last a little while!

Half an hour would be fine.

The first glass may only take 5 minutes but subsequent glasses should last at least 12 to 17 minutes. Who is going to time you?
Enjoy your wine but don't ever drink more than a bottle!

About 20 seconds

About 10 minutes

It depends on the wine, and the circumstances in which it is drunk.

I am a model railway enthusiast, and my railway is in the loft. In summer, it gets very hot in that room, and, when I get into a session with my railway, I don't want to be running to the loo all the time, so beer is out of the question. So I drink Italian Chianti or Valpolicella in a helf-pint beer glass. The cheaper Italian wines are excellent quaffing wines.

If you are having a fun meal out at avenue such as ASK or Pizza Hut,. then you will generally be sold a lightish white or red, and ten minutes between glasses would be correct.

In a more serious setting, such as a restaurant with proper tablecloths and cutlery, you will be offered a superior wine which you drink to complement the food. One glass of white should be drunk with the soup or fish course; the main course will demand the consumption of one glass whilst the food is active on your plate, and a second glass afterwards. Dessert should, generally, be wineless, as a Cognac, liquer or fortified wine should be offered with the concluding coffee.

I do not advocate the drinking of wine in a pub that does not sell cooked food. Often the wine will be overpriced, sold in minute quantities and often recorked, and, thus, stale.

I hate all this precision thing just enjoy at your own speed

just smile and be yourself ...

You should chug it all in one go then describe it as "A cheeky little number, slight hint of ammonia with subtle woody undertones!"

Then suggest everybody have a Sambuca chaser to wash the next one down with.

That should get you all the respect of your fellow drinkers!

In what way respectable. If you mean upstanding citizen then 15 minutes.
If you mean respectable as in ability to consume vast amounts of alcohol, then a bottle in 15 minutes, is the accepted norm.

about 30 seconds :)
