Bartenders?????
Hey does anyone know if bartenders make a lot of money or should i say enough to live off of?

As a long time batender you have to take in for account numerous things to determine how much money you'll be making. There are different types of bars with different types of money to be made. Overall, the money is good in most places but the hours are long. You'll never have a free weekend nor holidays to take off becuase these are the busiest times for the service industry. Bartending is a dead end job with a small potential for growth depending on where you're bartending at. There's also bartending/restaurant culture which includes excessive drinking during the week, later and later nights that last into the morning and possible peer influence of drug use.
On the plus side, I could make rent in a night and whenever I was stuck in need of money I could always try and pick up another shift. Bartending is really one of the few jobs where the amount that you put in, the harder you work, the more money you will make. It's fun and fast paced and you make a lot of connections a long the way.
It's fun. If you are good at it you will make great money. But for many people bartending does not last forever.
Depends on where you work. If you are working at a really busy bar with older people, you can make pretty good money. Younger people dont tip as well. Also if you are a female it helps if you are great looking. However the busy bars are going to want someone with experience. You will most likely have to start as a barback or bartending at some crappy bar.
Now, It can be a fun job when you are young, but dont think about it for a career. Eventually you might actually want a life and family and a bartender isnt a good choice for that.
Depends on if you're a good bartender or not. I've been tending bar for almost 30 years. I wouldn't suggest it as an occupation. It's great when you're young. Your body takes a beating. Depending on where you work, it's not always the nicest crowd of people and women often don't get treated well. It is a good job while you're going to school, however. It pays the bills. You can study at the library during the day. But I wouldn't suggest it as a goal in life.
I made great money...But I was in a good spot though too. One perk of bartending is that u dont have to report everything to the IRS.
Clubs you make a decent pay rate and good tips, depending on what nite of the week you work. Corner bars are steady and your regulars tip well.
