What does it mean when you turn very red after consuming alcohol?!

Question:

What does it mean when you turn very red after consuming alcohol?

some people turn bright red after a sip of alcohol while some do not. what does that mean?? healthy or unhealthy? good liver or bad liver?

Answers:
Actually, all the answers are correct. Alcohol dilates the blood vessels in your face, and chronic drinkers are often eventually identified by the tiny red permanent spider veins on the cheeks, or a red nose (think "W.C. Fields"). For some, it's an allergic "histamine" reaction and happens right away - could be a reaction to the type of drink, or could be all alcohol. For others, it raises the blood pressure. In my experience, if you drink enough, eventually you "heat up" and the face get's red.

I always thought it meant that they had high blood pressure?!

It is because alcohol makes the blood pressure rise, causing complexion to turn reddish in color.
