Can someone give me the name of a good wine opener?!
Can someone give me the name of a good wine opener?
We currently have The Rabbit and it's not doing so well now. I think it should have lasted longer but I'm looking to replace it for my husband's birthday. I personally like my double-jointed wine key but he likes the fancy ones that have their own stand.
Thanks.

Don't waste your money on the Rabbit. The best, long-lasting corkscrew is a ... waiter's corkscrew!! Why do you think quality restaurants use them?
Here is a REALLY good one, with a knife to cut the foil attached, a double hinged handle and a teflon coated "worm":

I used to have a Rabbit too and it worked well but broke after a while.
I recently got an opener at Costco that is a lot like the Rabbit but is more substantial and works very well.
They also have a Connoisseur Corkscrew Box Set which
iIncludes wine opener, foil cutter, pourer, collar, stopper & extra screw for $29.99 at Costco.com.
It is Item # 880464and would be a very nice gift
I've had the same experience as you. The Rabbit never seems to work properly.
Your best bet is to get a restaurant quality opener. One that gets mounted to something.
Do a google search for "restaurant supplies" and you'll see tons of sites. Click on one (or a few to compare) and then search for "wine opener". You should see dozens of choices, some as much as $600-$700. I'll bet you a really good quality opener will last a long time.
Never use a Rabbit brand opener myself, but I have use that style of opener, and Houdini branded one, they work great. I love mine.
