What is the difference between???!

Question: in champagne... when it says brute or extra dry??

Answers: in champagne... when it says brute or extra dry??

Brut is drier than extra dry not the other way around.

It goes in order of dry to sweet:
Brut Non Dosage/Brut Absolut/Ultra Brut (diff. names by producer but non receive any dosage at this level)
Brut
Extra Dry
Sec
Demi Sec
Doux

After secondary fermentation the plug of dead yeast is disgorged and topped of with a "liqueur" of sweeter wine before the cork is inserted. The amount of dosage determines the sweetness.

A brut could be called medium-dry. Sweeter than an extra-dry.

it is a ranking of the Champagne from dry to sweet

Brut Absolut, Brut, Extra-Dry, Sec, Demi-Sec and Doux.

so would be similar to comparing a Shiraz against a Cabernet
