healthy yet easy food ideas?!
Thanks in advance!
There are a ton of things that you just need to pop into the oven. Get a whole chicken, pull out the organs, put in a casserole dish with 1-2 cups of water in the bottom. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder. Do not cover. Bake at 425 for an hour and a half.
Chicken pieces (thighs/breasts)- in a casserole dish mix 2 cups rice with 2 cups water. Stir in a chicken boullion flavoring. Place chicken pieces over rice, sprinkle with salt, pepper, garlic powder. Cover tightly. Bake at 375 for 35 min boneless, 375 for 1 hour bone in. The rice gets all chicken flavor, it's awesome.
Chicken breast strips or boneless pork chops- mix in Shake N Bake. One same baking sheet put some baby carrots and cut up zucchini. Drizzle veggies with olive oil and seasonings. Bake at 425 for 25 min. I love Shake N Bake meat dipped in BBQ sauce :)
Pasta with marinara and frozen meatballs. Pasta tossed with olive oil, butter, and black olives.
Shrimp salad sandwiches- just buy frozen cooked shrimp. Defrost a handful in a bowl of water in the sink (5 min). Pull off tail, dice up, mix with a little mayo, a little cream cheese, squirt of lemon, maybe some chives. Put on a hot dog roll with lettuce. Love it!
Good luck with the baby!

Btw don't be afraid to ask for help. You might have to ask you hubby if he can try and work less.
You are going to have to get some help from a friend, family member or husband. Simple as that. Get some people to make some dishes tat you can freeze and take out and heat in microwave or oven when needed. Here is a dish you can make when your child is napping. You will need pasta, ground beef, can of diced tomatoes, celery and mushrooms (optional), herbs(optional) and grated cheese.
It may seem like a lot of work but think about it, you ground the beef, you can sit in between stirs, you cook pasta, and sit in between stirs, you add tomatoes which are already diced and if you get a can with herbs already in them then you dont need to add that! then you add your other veggies which you can cut up in about 5 mins while sitting at a table. Add it all together in pan and make sure its all cooked and done. Then when its ready to serve, add grated cheese ( grocery stores have packaged grated cheese- another step you dont have to do)
You can make a few batches and store them in a container in your freezer.
Or if you honestly just cannot be on your feet for even that amount of time, instead of unhealthy take out everynight, call restaurants just before your husband gets off work and order inexpensive healthy meals like salmon, rice and veggies or chicken parmesan or whatever you want. Since its just the two of you order enough for 4 people and order different things, that way you can have left overs to add to your meals the next day or two. For example ; order an extra chicken parmesan dish. It will probably come with a potato side with veggies. The next day you can split the meal in half with your husband and add a soup or salad that you can easily make. So by calling lets say on a Monday, you have dinner on Monday, Tuesday and maybe a lunch for one of you on Wednesday. On Wednesday do the same or ask a friend or family member to make you a batch of spaghetti or stew that will serve for another few days.
Dont woory, making easy-to-make and healthy foods are easy as lemon juice! ^_^ What I do is try to eat healthy everyday, and I usually make up my own strageties for a good wholseome but wuick and easy meal.
Have you tried oatmeal? It only takes 1-2 min in the microwave. Put 1/2 a cup of dried oatmeal and a cup of milk and pop it in the microwave for 1-2 min andyou have great, well balanced meal. Juts put some berriesi n there! Its a great breakfast food. Try not to put sugar becuase the fruits are your natural suagars-if you RAELLY hate oatmeal, like I used to, put a PINCH or brown suagr. Its fast, kepps you full for a LONG time, cleans out your system, and you acn only get benefits from oatmeal. It is a perfect breakfast meal! I use Quaker Whole grain. (dont be fooled by the "instant packets" they are filled with extra suagrs and fats.)
Consider smoothies. Its a whole meal in a cup. Just pour in s cup of 1/2 a cup or juice, or milk. I would 1/2 a cup. Then add berries, OR yogurt. Then BLEND! >:D Its quick, easy, AND IF FILLED WITH YOUR DAILY VITAMINS. Which is really important.
This one is probaably going to throw you off, but just eat any veggies and fruits. Just one apple is very fullfilling if you eat slowly and enjoy it. So is a banana!
A yogurt cup is great! It is filled with calcuim and the such... just take a cup of yogurt, pour into a bowl and add granola. Some berries and go crazy with fruits. FRUITS ONLY HAVE BENEFITS! But caution-choose your yogurt wisley. Some are added with many fruit dyes and chemicals that are evil! Same with granola-people might say they are good, but some granola is packed with sugars that are bad for you. Try to buy organic.
Tral mix! This one if very helpful becuase its food on the go, and it can be tasty and benefial. Just take a plastic baggy and add healthy choices like- healthy rolled oats and granola, raisins (minimum) banana chips or apple chips (healthy ones, be aware some companies pack them with sgar, but natural are mostly the best) popcorn. YES POPCORN! (BUT BUTTER FREE OR NATURAL and add a 1/2 a cup or cup to a miximum.) Maybe some veggies too... dried berries. More of less, if you mix it up-its going to satisfy your needs and its good for you!
AND A WORD OF CAUTION: read the ingerdients list more often. Some little foods might say "100 calorie pack" or "fat-free" but just read the ingredients and keep in mind whats in them. Sure if you stay under your calorie limit its good, stick to that. But once in a while, try to read the ingredients. HINT: the moer ingredients, the more UN---healthy. Single of a few ingredients are always healthy. Look for these ingredeints: hydrogonated oils, High Furctose Corn Syrup, ANY food coloring dyes and soy. Thats right soy! Thsoe are the "code-red" ones and has little to no value. And are quite unhealthy. ALSO, if the calories from fat are just as high or HIGHER than the calories-stay away. Its BAD! ITS EVIL! Ohter than that goood luck.
btw, I just though of anotehr food-muffins. Try to buy natural berry muffins and read the ingerdients list! Or oatmeal cooikies. Sweets can be good too, its just some are used for evil. They are filling and tasty! Its great with milk! :D :D :D :D
