What Are Some Quick German Recipes?!

Spaetzle! Or fried German noodles. My family is German, and we made this all the time when I was growing up.
3 cups unbleached flour
4 large eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup water (or more)
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 cup butter
Sift flour and salt together in a bowl.
Pour eggs and 1/4 cup water into middle of flour mixture, beat with a wooden spoon.
Add enough water to make the dough slightly sticky, yet keeping it elastic and stiff.
To make the noodles you can push it through a colander (strainer) or just put it in a bag and cut a small corner out, cutting the noodles as they come out.
Cook noodles in the water about 5 minutes. Then you drain them. Then traditionally you fry them until kinda of golden brown in some butter. I usually skip this step and just eat them with some melted butter and salt.
They taste like a cross between heavy egg noodles and dumplings. I love them :)
Take some good bratwurst or other german sausage and place in a large frying pan on the stove.
On medium heat brown the sausages on each side - for about 12 minutes per side.
While they are browning, core and thinly slice a medium size green cabbage. They should be like noodle strips and not small pieces.
Finely chop one whole onion
When the sausages are done browning, remove them and place on a platter or plate - do not drain away any juice that makes it's way to the platter. Keep the juice that remains in the frying pan.
Saute the onions in the fat left from the sausages, if there isn't at least 2-3 tablespoons full, add some oil or butter.
When the onions are transparent, add the cabbage and stir them together a bit.
Place a lid over the mixture and put on low.
Allow the cabbage to shrink for about 10 minutes, lift the lid and stir.
Add about half a cup of white or cider vinegar to the pan with half a cup of white or brown sugar
Season with salt and pepper - and if you'd like, a squirt of brown mustard, a bit of garlic
Stir the mix well one more time and add back the sausages and any remaining juice in the pan to the top of the cabbage and put the lid back on for another 10 minutes
It's ready to serve!
You could also add chopped green apples to the cabbage mix - don't do red, they are too mushy.
A boiled dinner with any German sausage, sauerkraut and potatoes is quick and easy. Serve with good dark rye bread and stone ground mustard. If you know how to make dumplings, go for it.
Knockwurst or is a good choice for the sausage, but there are hundreds of German sausages.

mix all together and let sit for an hour.
Make some pancake batter then add cinnamon to it (as much or little as u want). Then take slices of bread and cut the slices into individual segments (like French toast sticks). Cover each slice in the batter and fry them in a frying pan. Serve with syrup
CRISPY GERMAN CUT-OUT COOKIES
1 cup butter
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup
1 tablespoon lemon juice
4 cups unsifted flour
1/4 tsp salt
In a large bowl with mixer at medium speed, beat together first 5 ingredients until smooth. Gradually beat in flour and salt until well blended. Chill at least 1 hour or until easy to handle.
On floured surface, roll dough 1/3 at a time to 1/8" thickness. Cut into desired shapes.
Place 1" apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake in 350°F oven 10-12 minutes or until lightly browned edge. Remove from cookie sheet; cool on rack.
Decorate as desired. May be stored in tightly covered container up to 3 weeks.
Makes about 7 dozen 2" cookies.

GERMAN CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
1 box pudding in mix, German chocolate cake mix
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. oatmeal
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1/4 bag chocolate chips
Mix all ingredients together. Drop by spoonfuls onto cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes. Keep on cookie sheet 1-2 minutes and then transfer to cooling rack
6 pork loin cutlets (cut 1/2 in. thick)
1/4 c. flour
1 tsp. seasoned salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 beaten egg
2 tbsp. milk
3/4 c. fine bread crumbs
1 tsp. paprika
3 tbsp. shortening
3/4 c. chicken broth
1 tbsp. flour
1/4 tsp. dill weed
1/2 c. sour cream
Pound pork to 1/4 to 1/8 thickness. Cut edges with slits to prevent curling. Coat with mixture of flour, seasoned salt, and pepper. Combine egg and milk. Dip cutlets in egg mixture, then in crumbs and paprika. Cook in large skillet 3 cutlets at a time for 3 minutes on each side. Remove and pour broth in skillet. Loosen drippings then mix 1 tablespoon flour, dill weed, sour cream. Pour and stir into broth. Cook until thick. Pour over warm cutlets

Place the milk and salt in a saucepan, and set over medium heat. In a small bowl, mix together 1 1/2 tablespoons of flour and water. When the milk begins to bubble, stir in the flour mixture, and cook stirring constantly until thickened, 2 or 3 minutes. Let cool until set. You can put the mixture in the refrigerator to speed the process.
Fold the eggs into the chilled dough. Add 1 cup of flour and mix thoroughly (dough will be lumpy). Drop into simmering soups by the teaspoonful. Simmer covered for 10 minutes, remove lid, and simmer 10 minutes more.
