How long can I keep cheesecake out?!

Question: How long can I keep cheesecake out?
I left cheesecake in my friend's car 24 hours ago thatI got from Chick Fil A. I'm about to be with her again right now. Can I eat it?

I'm Atlanta. It was in the 50's last night and 70's today. Thanks.

Unless you want some food poisoning I wouldn't eat it if I were you. Cheesecake always has to be refrigerated and I'd say the most I would ever leave it out of the fridge for if it was ALL getting eaten, would be 2 hours. People get really sick from eating food that has been left out too long and never even realize it (It's usually when you can't stop going #2 to the bathroom or throwing up)

My first answer was going to be not long if I'm around, but then I read the rest of the question.Actually,24 hours is way too long. You should throw it out.A few hours[4 maximum] is the most any food item should be out.My suggestion is to throw it out, then stop at the bakery or grocery store and buy a new one. Then dig in!! Have a fun afternoon.

There's a basic 2 hour rule with anything dairy. You couldn't leave milk or cream out for that long without a danger of it going off, so you can't do it with cheesecake. Since it's store bought anyway, I'd toss it and get another.

Better off to buy a new one
