Why are pomegranates so expensive?!

Question: Why are pomegranates so expensive?
Answers:

Pomegranates are not so expensive where there grow naturally. they are expensive in Western countries where they have to be imported/where there's not much demand because of import/distribution costs and because not many people buy them.

Pomegranates are grown in California and Arizona. I think the reason that they seem more expensive than other fruits is because there is not as great a demand for them. The worst thing about them is trying to pry all the seeds out of them.

they are not locally produced or as readily available as most other fruits so they are expensive to transport in quantities.

Because they have to be imported, and there are not many suppliers.
