What's a real good Bourbon that goes down smooth as silk?!

Question: What's a real good Bourbon that goes down smooth as silk!?
Something unlike Jim Beam which gags me!. I like to sip it strait with nothing to dilute it!. I thought Wild Turkey 101 was pretty good for the money!. Any other suggestions!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

The first thing any bourbon lover must know is that there are actually two types of bourbon: ‘Ryed’ and ‘Wheated’ A true bourbon drinker will form an undying allegiance for one or the other!. Even most salespeople in liquor stores will be clueless about the two types!.

Bourbon must be at least 51% corn!. Generally 65% - 75% corn is used, together with about 10% barley and the balance will be either rye or wheat!.

When the balance is rye, the bourbon is known as a ‘ryed bourbon!.’ Ryed bourbons are very bold and spicy!.

When the balance is wheat, the bourbon is known as a ‘wheated bourbon!.’ Wheated bourbons are generally sweeter, nuttier, mellow and easy to drink!. For these reasons, it is the wheated bourbons that are generally preferred straight up, especially on the lower end, i!.e!., the less expensive ones!.

Wheated bourbons are in the minority but Makers Mark, W!.L!. Weller, Van Winkle, Old Fitzgerald, Rebel Yell, Cabin Still and David Nicholson 1843 are some of them!.

Personally, I think Makers Mark is overpriced and overrated!. The red blob of wax on the bottle cap/neck is a great marketing gimmick / ploy but it does absolutely nothing to improve the marginal taste of its contents!. You will also note, or not note, any age or aging information on a bottle of Maker’s Mark, i!.e!., it is rushed to market!.

However, others like Maker’s Mark and I won’t argue with them!. This being the case, I don’t make recommendations!. The best judge is YOUR palate which is not like my palate or anyone else’s!. Have someone set up blind taste tests for you!.

Aside from this, BOURBON is as American as baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Chevrolet……………!.!.

Bourbon is the official spirit of the United States by Act of Congress!. In 1964, a congressional resolution protected the term "Bourbon" and only since then has the product been defined!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

LOL after 3 or 4 double shot's in 5 minutes, I don't think it really matters!.

I tried knob creek a couple days ago!. They were giving away free samples at my local grocery store!. It went down pretty good!.

Jack Daniels is what i have in my bar at home!.

I also tried Bailey's irish creme original!. First time i ever tried any of that!. Wow, it is good so i bought a couple litre bottles of it to try in my morning coffee!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Gentleman Jack is the smoothest of the Bourbon/Tennessee Whiskey category!. Knob Creek is good, too!. Makers Mark is pretty much the standard for Bourbon, though!. If you haven't had that one, I'd try that first!.

All of these are much better than Jim Beam!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Henry McKenna is pretty good!. If you don't mind trying a blended whiskey as opposed to a bourbon, Crown Royal is excellent!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Knob Creek is ok!. My favorite is Jack Daniels "Gentleman Jack"!. The longer you leave it on the shelf the smooooooother it gets!Www@FoodAQ@Com
