Google the following:

- wine
- mixed drink
- liquor
- liqueur
learn the difference between liquors and liqueurs.
study basic bar lingo: http://www.syrupmagazine.com/what_it_is/…
liquor ordered "neat" means straight up, no ice. "on the rocks" means on ice.
Then you are going to want to know what beer is what. You are going to want to know if you have an IPA on tap, a hefeweizen on tap, stouts and porters, etc.
You will learn a lot on the job, but try to learn the lingo and the basics first. Then move on to types of beer and then wine. Be enthusiastic and cheerful. You don't need bartending school to be a cocktail waitress. If you get a job at the right bar they will teach you.
a book?
start with cocktail recipes. go to very websites, get their 'most popular' list and make your self flash cards. as for wine, only servers will have to know about wine and the restaurant will teach you that. and beer, people will ask one of 2 things, first- 'what do you have on tap' or 'let me have your [fill in type of beer]. you dont have to know a damn thing.
