I know I am supposed to drink 8 glasses of water a day, but it is SO boring, I just won't do it. Ideas?!

Question: I know I am supposed to drink 8 glasses of water a day, but it is SO boring, I just won't do it. Ideas?
A friend recommended that I add a little honey - that just tastes like water with a little bit of honey in it and isn't any real improvement. I've also been advised to add a little juice, but that just tastes like way watered down juice - yech! I know there are commercial flavored waters for sale, but that's pretty expensive.

Answers:

when they say drink 8 glasses, they dont mean at one go.

i know its boring, but you can down a glass of water one glass at a time, cant you?

me, i can down almost 2 litres at one go, but thats just me :D

Lots of your fruits and veggies are full of water. I think cucumbers are like 90-something% water! Try eating more FRESH fruits and vegetables and that'll get you lots of water plus vitamins, nutrients, etc. Also try your water at different temperatures or in bottled form. Room temperature water can be drank faster but cold water absorbs faster and is more "appetizing". Also when you get a glass of water drink the whole thing (at the sink) then get another glass.
:)
And if you have a big purse carry a bottle around, you're bound to drink it some at one time or another. Aaand try not to buy sodas and fruit juices so you won't be tempted to drink those instead!

My advice, just do it. Treat it like medicine. You don't need your water to entertain you. If you needed medicine you wouldn't skip just because it is unpleasant, or God forbid (gasp!) boring. I really don't want to offend you but go back and read your post. In other parts of the world where people do not have safe drinking water, you would sound like such a jerk!

And honestly, if you really need incentive to stay hydrated and drink your water, let yourself get good and dehydrated sometime. You get constipated, disoriented, muscles cramp, headaches...not a pleasant afternoon.

The best is just water. Try different temps...room temp, hot, warm, tap cold, iced. You never know what will be best. Maybe you don't need crisp and refreshing ice water, maybe you will enjoy your water warm and comforting. If that just ain't happening, try tea. Green tea, herbal teas are best, my personal beverage of choice is iced tea. Brew your own, they have less junk in them than any powdered tea flavored koolaid type drink. I use regular old iced tea blend family sized bags, I add sweetener, and I drink about a gallon a day. I stay nicely hydrated.

You can also get some hydration from foods: soups, fruits, vegetables...anything that is juicy, has broth, AND does not contain salt or alcohol.

Your urine is your best indicator how hydrated you are. It should be easy to pass, and the paler, the better...and not a strong smell.

your body gets used to it.

just keep with it for awhile.

Eventually you'll like water so much you won't want anything else.

If your really picky just dish out the money for the Commercial flavored waters; you have to choose between picky or cheap.

I cant believe no one mentioned crystal light!! Drink crystal light it comes in many different flavours and is sooooo tasty and is only 10 calories a pack!!!..........you'd be drinking 16 glasses of water a day cause it's so tasty!!!

I drink at least 10 glasses a day.........

I sometimes dont even drink one, and im doing fine, i think you get a lot of it in your foods.

here's a game: Every time you drink a glass of water, you get a cookie. By the third cookie, you will be too full, so you can do it again later in the day.

your ****** if you cant even afford the 2 bucks for a package of 8 drink mixes or the even smaller amount if you get the mixes that go into the gallon jugs.

Squeeze a little lemon juice in it, will taste a lot better.

Ummmm don't make yourself, that's doing harm
