Mystery Menu Ideas for Christmas Party?!

Question: I am doing a mystery dinner for the youth and youth workers for my husband. I either want to do 12 days of Christmas and pair up randomly christmas items with meal items such as fork, napkin, spaghetti, etc.

OR.... I'm going to do a general mystery menu where they can sort of pick out what they want from clues. such as
1. knife - The rippers choice
2. spoon - Hug and kiss
3. PEPSI - Uh Huh
4. napkin - A sleepy relative
5. wild rice - A wedding tradition
6. water - Farmer's friend
7. fork - Provincial spear
8. bread - A small raise
9. pizza - Chicago’s Style

Any suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated! It needs to be simple, yet fun!

try the photographers choice - cheese (it would be fun to see someone just order cheese as their meal)

I like that mystery idea. though you might want to put a couple of nibbles on the table or rolls so they don't completly starve.

How about a couple more....

Pasta...Maybe B or C perhaps.

Potatoes...A way to grow more digits.

Jacket Potato...More digit growing but in a coat.

Another idea would be to give them a proper fancy meal, but just not too fancy.

Start with either a simple soup and roll or prawn cocktail. Follow it with slices of chicken or pork, roast pots and then veg that most kids eat. Have yorkshire puds, stuffing and sausages in little dishes on the table.

For pudding do individual Xmas puds or choc puds with a dollop of cream.

Ask them if they want to dress up for the occasion and you can make them feel really grown up for the night.

I bet they would love being able to choose their menu.

For making fluffy soft idlis you need:

· 4 cups (heaped) - raw long grain rice

· 1 cup (heaped) and 1/2 cup - split urud dhal

· Salt to taste.

Method of preparation :

· Pressure cook the rice without adding water in the rice for 5 minutes.

· Allow the pressure to subside on its own.

· Then add lukewarm water to the rice and soak it for 4 hours.

· Just an hour before grinding, wash and soak the urad dal.

· First grind the urad dal in the mixie.

· Then grind the rice to a fine consistency. Not too fine as a paste of course.

· Mix the two and add the required salt.

· Mix thoroughly.

· The final batter should not be too thick or too watery.

· Allow the batter to ferment for at least 12 hours.

· Then prepare the idli in the usual manner and really soft idlis will be got.

· This is a very good way to prepare soft idlis by grinding in a mixie when one does not have the traditional stone grinder and also the parboiled rice.
