Food ideas for house warming party?!
Bacon-wrapped pistachio-stuffed spicy dates
20 pitted dates
20 shelled pistachios
Red pepper flakes
10 slices of bacon, par-cooked and cut in half
Heat oven to 400°. Line a baking tray with parchment paper or non-stick foil.
Stuff the dates with a pistachio. Sprinkle the par-cooked bacon with red pepper flakes to taste. Wrap a piece of bacon around one of the dates. Secure with a skewer or toothpick. Repeat with remaining dates. Arrange on prepared baking sheet and bake 5 minutes. Turn the dates over and bake another 5 minutes.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
I think for my apartment warming I did a shrimp platter, meat and cheese platter, hummus in a bread bowl, and a huge platter of nachos. Although at a pre-theater cocktail party she made BBQ duck and those little roasted potatoes sliced in half with garlic cream cheese piped on top with sprinkled chives. Those were awesome.
Something pretty for the table: Apple-Cranberry Upside down cake (can substitute using Betty Crocker gluten-free yellow cake mix if you want): http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/appl…
This appetizer wreath arrangement is also attractive (and tasty) on the table..especially with a candle in the center: http://www.pillsbury.com/recipes/holiday…
