How do you do wine decentation on a restaurent?

Ask the waiter/ess to decant your wine with a decanter.

Use wine decanters.

Ive heard its not necassery these days, apparantly it was created years ago when brandy was mixed with red wine so it travelled better (wen everything went by sea and could take months to get there) for some reason the brandy helped the wine stay good, they then decanted it to let the brandy evaporate and leave just the wine. So now its not necassery. Looking forward to other posts to see if what I read was correct.
