What does "Free Refreshments" mean?!

Question: What does "Free Refreshments" mean?
If an ad says free refreshments provided, what is the first thing that pops into your mind as to what's being provided?

Fruit punch and cookies.

Free Refreshments means light drinks and food. Typically nonalcoholic drinks such as water, juice, soda/pop and coffee or tea. For non-drinks, typically pretzels, chips, fruit, usually sliced, sometimes whole, little sandwiches, bagels, pastries, cookies, maybe a simple appetizer, crackers, cheese, spread.

Hope this helps!

I work with a catering company we always serve freshments such as what I mentioned above for coporate events!

First thing that comes to mind is water, soda, apples and oranges, and maybe chips of some kind.
