Which is hotter Habanero or wasabi?!

Question: See I was wondering what was hotter Habanero or Wasabi?

Answers: See I was wondering what was hotter Habanero or Wasabi?

First, the Scoville scale doesn't apply to Wasabi since it was designed for peppers, capsaicin, so the Scoville isn't the right scale to compare the two. I just don't make sense.

There are two types of hotness between Habanero and Wasabi.

Habanero's hot chemical is capsaicin which effect the taste buds while Wasabi has isothiocyanates which produces vapors that effect the nasal passages.

Personally, I think Wasabi is hotter but doesn't last as long while a habanero linger longer on the tongue.

I can eat a spoonful of habanero, but a spoon full of wasabi is like instant brain freeze, but does goes away.

I think wasabi is hotter, but a habanero's heat last longer.

washabi

They are a totally different sensation. Habanero being hot in the mouth and wasabi being a more nasal sensation. They call it "the dragon's breath."

Habanero by far!

Habanero, you can get burn by rub it on your skin. Wassabi doesn't burn your mouth or skin, it only makes you cry and when it gone, it gone.

Habanero, imo. I love the wasabi in small doses, but can't even take that hot a pepper.

Habanero is at the top of the Scoville Heat Chart, so it's got to be Habanero

http://wiw.org/~corey/chile/scoville.htm...

Habanero is hotter - it can be 100,000 - 350,000 Scoville units.

The heat of a pepper to the taste buds is measured in a unit call Scoville Units. The habanero is the hottest at between 100,000 and 300,000 units. Wasabi is made from the root of Wasabia Japonica, very much like horseradish. The heat from wasabi is completely different from the capsaicin in peppers, which can actually burn the skin. So the answer is, habanero peppers are "hotter" than wasabi.

Habanero is the champ of hotness. Try as spoonful of each and it will be obvious.

I think habanero is hotter. The oils from the pepper stay on your tongue and can burn for a long time.

Wasabi is different type of spicy - the burn is intense, but it goes away very quickly.

initially the wasabi will seem hotter , but will pass quicker . the habanero takes a few seconds to get going + will build , the heat will seem more pronounced because it'll last a lot longer . by the time it's over w/ you'll think the habanero wins .

Nothing is too hot for Chuck Norris.
