It will never lose its potency, as there are only certain processes that a bean will have to go through to lose its caffeine.
It will still wake you up just fine.....maybe even more as your tongue will get quite a shock from the bad taste!

All i know is I HATE day old coffee..it gets bitter and tends to have dredges...ewww...Nothing like fresh for me! Even the coffee houses keep time on how old the pot is..Source: Tim Hortons in Canada puts a time on the pot. If you are a true coffee drinker then you don't want warmed over sludge.

i dont know for sure, but I think it would still retain its effectiveness. It just wouldn't taste very good since the coffee has been oxidized (sitting in oxygen)

I don't know that it loses its effectiveness but warmed up coffee so gross. I will not drink it after about four hours old even if the pot is still hot.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't lose any effectiveness - or not enough to be significant, anyways.
