Yes, it's ok to drink 6 cans of diet dew a day. Aspartame in that quantity won't hurt you if you don't have phenylketonuria, a disease that affects less than 0.01 percent of the population. And those animal studies about sweetners causing cancer in rats, only relevant if you think being fed the equivalent of a bathtub full of pure sweetener is something that you're likely to do every day, like how they were fed based on comparable body weights.
Is it good for you? No more than water. Is it bad for you? No more than water. Canned diet soda is filtered and sterilized, so if you got stuck in a basement after an earthquake with 10 cases of it as your only source of water, you'd still survive just as long as if you had 10 cases of canned water, with no more or less effects. People who get scared reading the internet don't realize that lot's of quack are out there who love to get people alarmed. Look at the Year 2000 non-event. Look at the 2012 quacks.

No, diet drinks don't cause tooth decay due to carbonation. If CO2 caused tooth decay, then we would all have our teeth rotting out because we exhale CO2 with every breath. The primary cause of tooth decay due to drinks is the sugar content, which feeds bacteria that produces acid that eats the enamel. The acidity of the drink is a potential secondary cause, depending on the drink. Diet Mt. Dew is less acidic than orange juice, pinapple juice, Snapple tea, Nestea, Gatorade, and many other drinks you might not think are acidic. In fact, Diet Mt. Dew is 5 to 10 TIMES less acidic than Sunny Delight and Gatorade Clear, which contain sugar in addition to the much higher acidity. The acidity of drinks is more of a problem if you swish it around and acidify your whole mouth instead of drinking it down the hatch or with a straw. If it's a sugar soda, you acidify and feed the bacteria. But orange juice has exactly the same effect on teeth, and sugared lemonade or colas are worse.
But for your health, it's bad.
Diet sodas have artificial sweeteners that are not healthy.
Carbonation eats your tooth enamel, slowly over time.
There are other chemicals in soda that should not be taken in large quantities over a long period of time.
(this answer is based on the assumption that you mean 6 diet sodas a day, every day for years. If it's a one time occurence, then it's ok.)
The main problem I see with Mountain Dew is its high caffeine and sugar content.
The problem with combining the two is that caffeine keeps us awake by producing adrenaline.
If you don't use the adrenaline any fat and sugar that you don't is converted to fat around your body and in your internal organs.
I'm actually a long-time drinker or diet sodas (diet mtn dew is among my favorites so I can relate).
Since Diet Mountain Dew doesn't contain any sugar, calories aren't a problem. And caffeine can actually help to stimulate your metabolism. That's why I switched from regular to diet soda.
However, as other people have noted it still can have other bad side effects. Carbonation and citric acid are bad for teeth, and artificial sugars have been known to cause cancer in lab rats (note that there are no reports of it causing cancer in humans... is it worth the risk? that's for you to decide)
So basically my advice is moderation. Don't drink six every day. Maybe you could by with three? Substituting soda with water is always a good choice. I'll admit I sometimes have 4 or 5 cans in a day, but I try to limit it.

That would be alot of soda a day. You can drink six a day, but there can be some health consequences if you drink that much a day. The best way is to drink one or two a day. Don't get addicted to it. It's not good for you.
Hell no!!! That Aspartame, which is what is used to sweeten most diet sodas is some very bad stuff for your health. Do some googling about Aspertame, what you'll find will scare the hell out of you.
No, it is very destructive to the body and your brain cannot determine whether you are drinking sugar or sugar free. So you might as well do the sugar.Hyperactivity and diabetes be damned!
