Is Quinoa low protein?!

Question: Is Quinoa low protein?
I bought a packet of quinoa (packaged not canned or precooked) and I thought it was really high in protein but on the back it says just 2grams of protein for every 100g?? I thought a cup full of the stuff was like 15-20grams of protein?

Where have I gone wrong? Have they got it wrong or have I bought the crappiest quinoa grains you can buy?

They are the white/greyish coloured ones btw. Thanks

If labling wasn't corrupt, it would say 7g.

But protein is the last thing you need to worry about. Not only is a herbivore diet natural, we are frugivores/primates and can do great on the lowest protein food on earth. I do and so do:

That is odd. Quinoa typically has much higher levels of protein per cup. One cup of quinoa is roughly 170gr, which various sources indicate as having anywhere between 8gr - 20gr.

Stumped me on that one.……

That is probably the cooked content, protein content is reduced when cooking. I don't know why.

cooked- protein 4%:…
uncooked- protein 14%:…

No, 100g quinoa has14g. A cup has 24 grams of protein. It is also a good source of Folate, Magnesium and Phosphorus, and a very good source of Manganese.…
