I would like to try a different kind of wine.....?!

Question: I would like to try a different kind of wine!.!.!.!.!.!?
I really enjoy sweet wines!. I like reisling, white zinfandel, lambrusco and there is a NC wine I like that is made with scuppernong grapes that I really like, I just can't think of the name right now!. Can anyone give me some advice on what I can try!? I would like to venture out into the reds too!. I just don't want anything too harsh!.

Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

As for whites i would suggest giving pinot gris a chance!. Normally there is some residual sugar left in the new world styles!. There are very nice ones coming out of Oregon these days at really reasonable prices!.

As for reds the term "harsh" is really hard to pin down as it differs for every person!. I would take it as either being overly tannic (that mouth drying feel) or overly alcoholic without the balance or fruit and acidity!.

Stay away from a majority of the California reds, they tens to be higher in alcohol due to the amount of sunshine they get and they are using tons of oak down there which can come off as harsh tannins when young!. I realize that is a sweeping generalization, there are always exceptions to the rule!.

I would check out Beaujolais(made from Gamay), Pinot Noir, or maybe a Melbec!. None will be sweet but will have good red fruit that can give the sensation of sweetness!.

Your best bet would be to go into a good local wine shop and talk with the person working!. They will be able to put you onto specific bottles that fit what you are looking for!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I suggest you go to the wine store or dept!. at the grocery store and talk to the person that orders!. Tell them what you like and what you wish to stay away from!. They will be able to tell you what is good and how to serve it!. Red wine is best served room temp!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The wine I love to drink because it is somewhat sweet with some fizz is Reunite and it comes in the lambrusco you mentioned, rose, zinfindale, blush and white rhino, it is the best ever! you have to try it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Barsac is a sweet dessert wine you might like to try, I don't drink red wine so can't recommend anything!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I like Morgan David Red Wine myself!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
