Answers:
It is perfectly legal for starters!. Distillation is another story!.

I can check my BYO (Brew Your Own Magazine) for locations in Pittsburgh!.!.!. My brother-in-law lives there and he and his father homebrew!. I'll look when I get home and edit my post for you!.

As far as online goes I really like http://midwestsupplies!.com for my own homebrewing!. Great prices, great customer service and they send out an instructional DVD with all orders!.

EDIT:

Sorry it toke me so long!.!.!. Actually had the magazine at work and forgot about it!.

And you can get started for under $120 including a deluxe brew kit, ingredients, sanitizer, caper and bottle caps!. Bottles will get you every time!. Around $10 - $12 a case!. If you save your own non-twist off bottles you can soak them in warm water and baking soda to remove the labels and then wash and sanitize them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Below is a link to a whole bunch of brew supply stores in the Pittsburgh area!. Hopefully you can find one close to you!.

As Mayor said, it is very legal!. I think as long as you make under something like 100 gallons a year per adult per household and don't try to sell it, you're fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are no laws against brewing your own beer!. Selling it is a very different story!. So don't!.

Any wine making shop will have all you need!. Go expensive and get the good stuff!. No plastic crap!. Get glass and stainless steel!.

Initial set up should be no less than $300!. But after that, you're looking at ten bucks for 30 or more gallons of good beer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
