How do i know if im an alcoholic?!

Question: How do i know if im an alcoholic!?
I need to know for sure!. i crave it every night!. However I am not always able to drink!.!.!.so I dont!. My favorite thing to do is drink by myself!. is that bad!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

In my experience, people who ask themselves if they are alcoholics are people who know perfectly well that they have a drinking problem but who want to know if they can deal with their problem and avoid having to quit drinking entirely!.

This is because many people believe that alcoholism is a "disease" that can only be cured by total abstinence!. So if you have the "disease" then your drinking career is over (and you have to go to those meetings!), but if not, then you can just cut down!.

Am I right!?

Well, the truth is that drinking problems occur along a continuum!. Some are mild, some are severe!. Sometimes people outgrow even severe problems!. Other people make a concerted effort to cut down and then are fine!. Still other people do have to quit entirely!.

Usually you find out if you're the type who has to quit entirely by making a concerted effort to cut down and drink moderately!. If you can't do that, you're best off abstaining!.

Most people who decide to abstain use the Nike "just do it" method!. No program!. They quit!. It's hard at first but gets easier pretty quickly!.

Others find they need or want social support!. Some go to AA, but an increasing number are using secular programs such as SMART Recovery and SOS!.

Me!? I quit drinking ten years ago, after numerous unsuccessful attempts to cut down!. I went to AA for several years; I found the social support helpful, but I thought the program itself was silly and that many of the members were nuttier than anyone you'd meet in a bar!.

You!? Who knows!. You're asking the question, and that's good, but only you can really figure out the answer!. If you can drink in a healthy way (and sitting around getting drunk all alone is not healthy--you know that) then there you are!. If not!.!.!.well, you have nothing to lose by looking up SMART Recovery!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

>>>This starts like others but bear with me, please !. !. !.
Go look at yourself by walking about where other alcoholics loiter
who are deeper into that sauce than reader!. AA, 10 step program,
or just locations like Public Transit Stations!. Watch them to get a clue how you'll look stick-thin, wearing attire issued by urban relief
organizations, and the station lavatory for heated toilet roosting to
sip the cheap stuff or doze upon!. Your other beds are unlocked dumpsters where shredded paper is soft and comfy until it is lifted into garbage truck for mechanical compaction, heat exchanger grids 'tho
you might have to fight others for space in freezing weather, and the
various religion outreach centers that mostly talk and pray before you
are allowed to soil their sheets!. If you're an alcoholic it won't seem
bad enough to kill the craving!. Alcoholic can go sober!. I've seen it!.
Its a day by day thing!. They just never stop being alcoholics who
know they don't want to be alcoholics!. I've seen that too!.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to be alone when you drink or do anything else!.
I think the telltale sign of an addiction, is when it starts to interfere with your everyday life, and the things that are important to you!.
also, if it's interfering with the relationships you have with your friends and family!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

How can you tell if you're an alcoholic!?

To the outsider, who has no problem whatsoever with alcohol, this question might seem a bit silly!. But it truly can be a baffling question, especially if you are the one who is caught up in the slippery slope of experiencing both fun times as well as some problems with your drinking!.

It can be truly difficult to tell in some cases!.

Consider, for example, the relatively young person who is still having a lot of fun with their drinking!. They haven't experienced too many heavy consequences yet: no drunk driving violations, no broken marriages, no lost jobs, and so on!. But on the other hand, they might be realizing a dependency on alcohol, or noticing that they drink heavily on a regular basis, even when they haven't planned on doing so!.

So the situation can be tricky; it is not necessarily as straightforward as one might think!.

The nature of denial is that is very powerful, and the last person to realize that you are an alcoholic will be yourself!. The reason for this is because we fool ourselves into thinking that we actually could control our drinking--if we only wanted to!. But we tell ourselves that we enjoy drinking, so we don't want to control it, so therefore we are not truly alcoholic!.

In some cases, there are alcoholics who will go weeks or months at a time without drinking, but when they do drink, they tend to binge, and get into all sorts of trouble!. So this can be difficult to self-diagnose, because the person can and does maintain abstinence for long periods of time, even though they always return to the bottle!.

So really, how can you tell!?

If you have to ask!.!.!. you probably have a bit of a drinking problem!. You're craving it!.!.!. and the only reason you're not drinking, is because i'm guessing you're underage and can't get it!? But what if you could!? I'm sure you'd be drinking every night as soon as you got those cravings!. Drinking by yourself is a little odd!. Most people drink in a social setting!.!.!. or have a glass of wine, or a beer by themselves, but i'm sure you're not talking about having just one drink!. I would check out an AA meeting or talking to someone about it before you find access to alcohol and make it a terrible habit!.

Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com
