Am i an alcoholic? what is your advice?!

Question: Am i an alcoholic!? what is your advice!?
How does a person know if they are dependent on alcoholic drinks or not!? I drink about 3-4 beers 4 days a week!. I a little concerned about becoming addicted to it!. I'm a 22 year old male, i weigh 135 lbs!. and i have been drinking beer for 11 months!. Im trying to slowly cut down the amount of beer that i drink!. I heard that stopping "cold turkey" can cause severe withdrawal symptoms!. What should i do!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Nah dude!. That is nothing!. I drink the same amounts, more on the weekends!. I am 26, and have been drinking since i was 16!. I think being an alcoholic is when you rely on alcohol, and you can't live your daily life with out it!. When you start getting the shakes in the morning, and the only thing that cures it is drinking, then you may want to look into quiting! But if you feel like your getting a problem, and you can't control it, then quit!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You should not drink on consecutive days, so if you drink one day, don't drink the next!.

And limit your beers to 1 or 2 per day!. These are the recommended guidelines!. If you have trouble cutting down and sticking to that you should go to AA meetings or call an alcohol dependence hotline for advice!. You can find them in your yellow pages!.

I used to drink a lot as well but had to stop when I get pregnant and then was breastfeeding, then got pregnant again!. It took 3 years for me to stop craving alcohol, and I would have got drunk if I could!. What I'm saying is that it's not easy and you may need support to cut down!.

Otherwise you're at risk for cirrhosis of the liver, hepatitis, jaundice, loads of other health problems!. also therapy might help to figure out what you are trying to numb or why you feel you need to drinkWww@FoodAQ@Com

your not an alcoholic!. drinking a lot (which you aren't) is not the only thing that makes you an alcoholic!. neither is being addicted to alcohol!. it's a mental disorder, and just like depression is often confused with being sad or just plain liking your beer!. if you want to cut back then fine, it's your choice!. a good trick is to get a brand you hate like for me, i can't stand coors (no offense coors lovers), so i would just start drinking that!. you'll probably drink one beer and want to puke and eventually you'll slow way the **** down!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You having 16 beers a week should not cause withdrawl!. Withdrawl happens to those whom consume like 16 beer a day, everyday!. At 22 you are at the party age!. The question to ask yourself is: Do you drink these beer alone!? If yes then you are starting to have a problem!. If you are having 3-4 beers at 4 parties a week then you are better then most!. When I was in college I would have like 12 beers at 3 to 4 parties per week!.

If you are worried you may have a problem and can't stop you should think about getting some help!. http://www!.aa!.org/!?Media=PlayFlashWww@FoodAQ@Com

You know that you are an alcoholic when you can't stop even if you want to!. So, with no excuses, try not to drink any alcohol for one week!. If you can't do that, then you're an alcoholic!.

My advice on weening yourself off of alcohol, or at least cutting back, is honestly, seek advice from someone or someplace that specializes in it, such as Alcoholics Anonymous!. I don't claim to be a specialist, and if you are addicted, you will need more help than you can get off of Yahoo Answers!.

Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

If alcohol interferes with your daily life (your job, your relationships, etc!.), if you have lost a job because of it, gotten a DUI or 2 or 3, if your girlfriend tells you you drink too much!.!.!.you may have a problem!.

There are no real side affects to quitting cold turkey except that you can't drink away your headache from the night before!. Try it!. Try not drinking for a few weeks!. You'll be amazed at how good you feel when you wake up and how clear your head is after only a few days!.

If you find that you can't stop!.!.!. then you should probably get some counseling before it becomes more serious!. I'm not a huge proponent of AA because I don't care for the religious tone but it works for some people!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Maybe go down to about 2 than 1 than stop! Because trust me if you stop cold turkey you will have withdrawal headaches they are terrible you see I got addicted to the caffeine in coke and I wouldn't quit drinking them then when i stopped I had a headache that lasted so long!. So if you feel like you need a drink maybe just drink a little bit but then stop!. Because you don't want to get addicted!.

Peace and may God be with you!Www@FoodAQ@Com

one way to know that you are dependant is to quit!.!.!.then you will realize if you can do without it or not!.!.!.!.!.but dont worry!.!.!.you can do anything you put your mind to!.!.!.!.remember!.!.!.you are stronger than it!.!.!.!.
start with reducing one day from the 4!.!.!.then 2 days!.!.!.and so on!.!.!.!.but do it like you mean it!.!.!.!.dont lie to yourself!.!.!.!.dont use excuses and justifications to get back to it!.!.!.
after a few months!.!.!.when you have stayed off it for some time!.!.!.then you can get back to drinking once a week or something!.!.!.cause then you are doing it out of your choice and not as a dependancy!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well first of all, with the amount you're drinking I doubt you would suffer DTs (I quit cold turkey about 2 months ago and I drank quite a bit more than you, still no withdraws)!.

If you enjoy a few beers every once and a while and it doesn't mess with your life or ability to be happy without it, you're probably fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

People who don't have a drinking problem never ask themselves "Am I an alcoholic!?" They just know they are not!. The amount you are drinking will not cause severe withdraw symptoms!. That happens to people with more severe issues!.You may need support!. Why not go to an AA meeting and just listen!. See if it is for you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Beer is a drink which has many ill effects and serves no known good cause!. Infact it is very dangerous to those who have any type of cancer!. It has ruined homes and parted very strong bonds!. You must stop drinking as you will save much in terms of your physical being and also financially! My advise to you is put a period to it, now!! also, keep away from those dunkards who would wish and pray that you drown finally in your sorrows!. That is what it does!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try to refrain from alcoholic, and if you drink alone, without friends, then it is a diagnosis!. Previously, I had a similar situation, but later I had such a busy schedule that did not have time to think of the alcoholic and the party!. Now I am no longer a problem!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think you should stop drinking for now, at least you can prove to yourself that you can do without, you are not alcoholic it is just a habit with you now, join a club and do some sport, then maybe you can just enjoy a drink with your mates in the weekend!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you are not right now, but it could get worse especially since you just started!. some people can stop cold turkey (i can't) but most people can't!. If you wanna stop just find other things to do you like that will help you forget about dranking alcohol!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I was always told if " you drink to get drunk, then you're an alcoholic!. " So I guess than would mean I am, too!.
Seriously, if it's enough for you to be concerned, then I'd slow down!. Better now, than when your liver starts to fail!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
